Button Box Team


Objective: Create prototype electronics test unit.
Deliverable(s): Build a platform to hold the Cortex, 4 motors, 4 servos, and 4 limit switches. Set up software for basic controls on the wireless controller.

  • set up a basic control system with the Cortex and 4 motors (2 small, 2 large)
  • set up default software for dual joystick motor control to test wired control for motors
  • incorporate the 4 servos into the control system
  • set up default software for the servos
  • start building the electronics platform
Wednesday, 9/05/12
  • set up the servos to work in the control system
  • soldered the wires onto the motors
  • put all the motors onto the electronics platform, except one
  • attached two old gear wheels to the large motors on the platform
  • programmed tank drive with joysticks
  • drove the robot approximately 10 yards up and down the hall
  • put the last motor on the platform
  • test wireless control
  • experiment with software

  • put the last motor on the platform
  • experimented with software (servos, motors, buttons, joysticks)
  • programmed servo control
    • press the up button for group (x= {5,6,7,8}) on controller = a servo rotates in one direction
    • release that button = the servo stops rotating
    • press the down button for group (x = {5,6,7,8}) on controller = same servo rotates in other direction
    • release that button = the servo stops rotating
    • we did this for each of four servos
